Outdoor fun

These are just some pictures I came across tonight that I figured I’d post. Hope you enjoy! And if it’s been a while since you’ve checked this blog, look around. I’ve posted quite a bit recently.

Want some? Yes I’m a horrible mother and I let my daughter eat dirt so I could snap a few pictures. Then I got her away from it quickly. Gross? Yes. But now I have proof that she did in fact eat dirt.

Kaden and Aaron playing baseball. The got this baseball set for Christmas. It was nice to be able to take it outside and really use it for the first time!

That pretty much sums up our lives over the last few weeks. I am excited for the warmer weather so we can all enjoy some outdoor time together.

Kyla is one!

I can’t believe my little girl is already a year old.DSC_0135 DSC_0151

The day started out right. Last night I was super sick, so Brad got up with the kids and let me sleep in. He came in to tell me that the carpet was wet and the ceiling was dripping. Great. DSC_0122 DSC_0124

DSC_0126 We believe it was the ice maker line for the fridge upstairs… It’s stopped leaking, my dad turned that water off. So, now we just need to clean up the mess down here. I’m grateful it wasn’t anything bigger than that! And we still had a great day.

Aunt Shalene and Sydney’s gifts!

Proof that I really am around in my kids’ lives. I just choose to hide behind the camera. Don’t you just love those pigtails! We went shopping with Grandma Stephens and she had to buy them. They make me laugh! Kyla liked them though. She usually pulls headbands off and won’t let me put them back on. This one fell off and she handed it to me and stuck her head out waiting for me to put it back on. Kaden says she looks like Rees (a cousin) with them on because Rees’ hair is always done cute like that!

I think every little girl needs a blanket like this. It says: “Caution: Moody” PERFECT!

Not the best pictures, sorry. But a huge thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Jensen for the cute gift! She loves to use dishes at meals and this will make it even more fun for her!

She had to try out one of her new presents will I finished decorating the cake. She really likes it, but her legs aren’t quite long enough…

Because it was her first birthday we did two cakes. One for Kyla to enjoy by herself and one for everybody else. Don’t you just love the movie Tangled!? Aaron watches it daily! Kyla wasn’t afraid to dig right in to her cake. Both of the boys didn’t know what to do when they had their own for their first birthday. But she didn’t hesitate.

Aaron’s Birthday Pictures

Here are some pictures from Aaron’s unhappy birthday. I thought it was a good day, but he’s not so convinced.

Making the cake…

It was too cold outside to go play, so we colored for awhile.

Grandma and Grandpa Stephens’ present got two thumbs up!

I was excited at how his cake turned out. I liked it with just the sprinkles, but we decided to do a spiderman cake and I think the webbing looked cool, the white on dark frosting. It got a two thumbs up from Aaron too!

Grandma and Grandpa Jensen’s present got two thumbs up too! He was so excited to have his own dishes! Thank you!

All in all it was a good day. I just wish it would have been warmer so we could have played together outside.

Legoland Extras

So, the following day we packed up and headed back. Just west of Las Vegas Kaden needed to go to the bathroom. There is nothing out there. I mean nothing. At all. I took the first exit we came to thinking we’d get off before Vegas and avoid getting lost. It makes me nervous to drive in big cities where I have no familiarity. I took the exit and lo and behold it’s the start of the strip. I took a different road and that little detour took us through Henderson. No gas stations anywhere. We drove for a good 10 minutes before we finally found a gas station. I pulled in, turned around and Kaden was asleep. Go figure. We decided to just find the nearest hotel to stay in. That way we’d still have time to go swimming. Our original plan was to stay in St. George, but it was getting late. With my brother’s GPS we found a hotel just 2 miles away. The rates were ridiculous. Our stay in CA for 3 nights was less than this one night. Anyway, we stayed there, walked to IHOP for dinner then went swimming. It was pretty chilly again, so I just dipped my feet in the hot tub while the boys swam. I didn’t get all the way in because I was holding Kyla.

Every night after swimming we put the kids in the tub to warm them up.

They had fun!

I didn’t get any picture of Kyla in the pool with her swimsuit, but I did get some of her before we left our hotel room. So here they are:

New swimsuit

New swimsuit (1)

New swimsuit (2) I love this girl! We had so much fun picking out her swimsuit. So many cute options. Due to her complexion we decided the T-shirt style was the way to go. Hopefully in the summer it’ll help her from burning too much.

Saturday morning we got up at 4 a.m. to head back. It’s just so much easier to travel while the kids sleep. Brad was a trooper and drove this time. There’s no way I would have made it. Obviously by the time we got home (around 10 a.m.) he was exhausted.

Thank you, Brad, for a wonderful, spontaneous trip!
