Aaron is One (plus other ramblings)

Yet again, my pictures posted in the wrong order. I'm too tired to mess around with it, and have decided that anyone reading should just be grateful that I'm even posting. Right? Something like that. Anyway, Aaron turned 1 last week (on the 7th). Yes, I know I'm very slow getting these pictures up. Every time I'm on the computer I feel guilty doing anything but medical reports. I finally met my goal for the day, so I decided to feel guilty for a few minutes and post. Anyway, here are some pictures from his big day.

The family. Brad kept shoving that piece of cake in my face. Hence the frosting by my mouth.

Aaron had no fear of diggin' into his cake. I made two cakes, one for him and one for the rest of us. He liked picking it up to try to eat it. And the following picture shows why...

Don't worry, he took lots of insulin... It's a good thing Aaron doesn't mind sharing.

I love this precious boy. And he loves his cake. And ice cream. And blanket. And saying NO!

Here he is sharing his cake with me. I didn't really eat it. I got a piece from the other cake... It was nice of him to offer though.

This is when he first started to eat his cake. He was pretty hesitant at first. He kept looking at it like, "Are you really giving me this whole thing, or is this some kind of joke?"

While we sang to him he just stared at the candle. I tried leaning so he would be a little closer to blow it out, but he was terrified of it. I guess that's good. At least we didn't have to treat any burns.

And here are two of my favorite pictures of him in the hospital.

He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 inches long. He was full-term, and I know you're all thinking how small he was. Compared to Kaden though, he was huge. I was able to have him VBAC, but the delivery had it's frightening moments. When Aaron was born, he was incredibly blue. He wouldn't take a breath for a couple of minutes. I really thought he was dead. That night our wonderful pediatrician suctioned all the blood out of his lungs and gave him surfactant (to help the lungs open up). He was on oxygen for two or three days. I came home on a Wednesday and amazingly I was able to bring him home the next day. Luckily, he didn't have to come home on oxygen. We did have to rent a bilibed, but we were done with that by Saturday. So, I have two wonderful miracle children. Truthfully, I think all children are miracles, but mine certainly went through a lot when compared to a "typical" pregnancy/delivery.
Well, Aaron goes in for his 1 year checkup on Monday, and then I'll post all of his stats. He is walking like crazy and has recently discovered how to go down the stairs backwards. He thinks that is pretty fun. He loves his blanket (he takes it EVERYWHERE), his thumb, walking, climbing, and music. He especially loves to dance to music and he even tries to sing along. I cannot believe how quickly he has grown. Lately he climbs onto his brother's bed to dance. Brad told him, yesterday, to get down. Aaron looked at him and said, "NO!" I think we are going to be in trouble. I'm not quite sure what happened to my good-natured little boy...
Aside from that, we are doing well. Brad took his limited scope test, though we haven't received any results yet. And just to clarify that, if he passes this test he will be able to get a job on a p.r.n basis. He won't be able to go to the operating room, do portables, or fluoroscopy. But he will be able to take x-rays and actually get paid for it. That is, he has to know how to do all of those things, but legally he's not supposed to do them alone, except for x-rays in the department. Okay, that's a brief summary and probably still confusing. Feel free to ask me some questions, if you have any. And with that I am going to bed. I have more I want to post, but it will have to wait until tomorrow... if I meet my goal for the day.
